About JanuRun

What is JanuRun?

add remove

JanuRun is a virtual 31 mile running challenge in January. Head out for a mile a day or three miles a few times a week, it’s up to you. What’s important is you’re regularly getting out and moving this January.

Feel the fresh air on your face with the freedom to run, walk or wheel in the way that feels right for you - where, when and how you like. Open to all abilities, whether you take part on your own, as a team or alongside a four-legged friend, this virtual challenge will show how heading outside can help you feel better inside.

  2. Once you sign up, you will receive your own fundraising page. You can personalise this page and add a Facebook Fundraiser to further your fundraising!
  3. Share the link to your fundraising page with all your friends, family and colleagues. Tell them about your challenge and ask them to sponsor you.

Whilst primarily a running challenge, JanuRun is open to all abilities and can be tailored to your needs. Complete 31 miles in the way that feels right for you; whether you run, walk, wheel, or do a combination of all three. What’s important is you’re regularly getting out and moving this January

Can I take part in JanuRun as a group and fundraise with my friends/family/colleagues?

add remove

Yes, absolutely – the more the merrier! Your group can also set up a team fundraising page to collectively fundraise together.

To create your team, you can set one up as part of registering for JanuRun or afterwards from your fundraising dashboard. Once created, you can send out invitations to your team.

To join a team, simply search for the team name or teammate name when you sign up for JanuRun. Alternatively, ask the team captain to send you an invitation.

How can I track my miles?

add remove

You can update your fundraising page by manually adding your distance or linking your fitness app to your page. To do this, please visit your fundraising dashboard.

There is also a JanuRun tracker poster for you to download from the Resources tab on your fundraising dashboard to help you keep track of your daily distance.

Can I alter my challenge, so I cover a longer or shorter distance, or start and finish earlier or later?

add remove

With it being a personal challenge, you can alter the challenge as needed as we understand that it’s not always possible to complete the challenge as planned. We want you to take part in whatever way works best for you, whether you reduce or increase the distance you cover or give yourself a different time frame to complete it within.

You aren’t required to let us know, unless you wish to, but it’s best to let your supporters know by posting an update on your page.

Please note, the distance leader board and badges are set to 31 miles and run between 1 –31 January. If you hit milestones outside these dates, you can request these badges by emailing janurun@gosh.org

Can I take part inside/run on a treadmill?

add remove

If that works best for you, of course you can! Depending on how you’re tracking your miles, you might need to manually upload your distance to your fundraising page, so make sure to note your progress.

Can my child(ren) take part and fundraise?

add remove

Children are welcome to take part with the consent of a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by a responsible adult during the challenge.

Children under 16 years of age at the start of the event (1 January 2023) must be registered by a parent or guardian. The fundraising page created will be owned by the registering parent or guardian, but this can be edited to include the child(ren) if you wish

Where will the money I raise go?

add remove

Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day around 600 children and young people from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments.

Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. And every day you run you'll help Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) give seriously ill children the chance of a better future.

The money you raise will help GOSH Charity to fund groundbreaking research, child and family support services, life-changing state-of-the-art medical equipment, and new child-focused environments at GOSH.
